Seeking Volunteers for Roots of Empathy. Roots of Empathy reduces levels of aggression, including bullying, among elementary school children while raising social and emotional competence and increasing empathy. Volunteer instructors attend a 4-day, in-person training October 10-12 and an additional day mid-way through the year. Email saraL@90by30.com to learn more or visit www.rootsofempathy.org and click on Participate to find out more. Roots of Empathy is about changing the world, child by child. SSD Policy KJA: Siuslaw School District does not endorse or sponsor the activities and/or information contained in community flyers.

Siuslaw Elementary is the home of an innovative program that uses a baby to help reduce bullying. Roots of Empathy is a worldwide movement to change the world one child at a time, and they are in need of an instructor to help them make the program happen this year at SES. Volunteer instructors receive four days of training (October 10-12 and an additional day mid-way through the school year) and ongoing mentoring to deliver a session each week in the SES first-grade classrooms where they work to build empathy.

Please see rootsofempathy.org or email saraL@90by30.com to learn more about what it means to be a Roots of Empathy instructor.
