On Friday, January 7, all 6th-12th Grade students will be dismissed at 12:00. This will allow our staff to attend an otherwise unavailable training in the Character Strong Program. Lunch will be served from 11:30-12:00. Buses will arrive at noon for students who regularly use district transportation. Walkers, bikers and parent pick-up students are dismissed at 11:30. Siuslaw Elementary School will remain on their regular Friday schedule. No element of the elementary day will be affected by these changes.

The Siuslaw School District has become aware today of troubling posts that have been shared widely around the country on the social media platform, TikTok. The posts refer to a threat to school safety for “every school in the United States” on Friday, December 17th. There have been NO threats to any Siuslaw schools. Wednesday is Anything but a Backpack Day (items should be no larger than 2'x1.5' and cannot be a disruption). Wednesday is also PRIDE class poster competition. Thursday is Dress Like a Teacher Day. A student suspect has been identified by authorities in the bomb threat message found at Siuslaw MS on Monday afternoon. As per local school board policy the individual is suspended from school, pending a threat assessment and a disciplinary hearing that may result in expulsion. Additional information is still being reviewed and the school district is cooperating with law enforcement in all aspects of the investigation.
