Students from Siuslaw School District are participating in Regional Oregon Battle of the Books Regional Tournaments on Saturday, April 9 and Saturday, April 16. Siuslaw Elementary School students (McKenna Jones, Chloe Bilbrey, Afton Linton, Macie Moore, and Maren Hughes, alternate) and Siuslaw Middle School students (Abigail Jones, Seamus Burke, Vanessa Nobles, Darrell 'Gage' Mills, and Braylon Evans) are participating April 9. Siuslaw High School students (Jane Wilks, Berkley Tregoning, Daniel Gorbett, Lillie Leland, and Darcy Edman, alternate) are participating April 16. We thank our school coaches at each site! Siuslaw Elementary School coaches are Greg Jorgenson and Kassy Keppol. Siuslaw Middle School coaches are Kelly Dotson, Hilary Roach, and Ryan Roach. Eighth-grade students and families are invited to Siuslaw High School for an Open House for incoming ninth graders on Thursday, April 7. We will have two welcome sessions. The first session starts at 6:30 p.m. and the second starts at 7 p.m. These are repeated events intended to accommodate as many schedules as possible. We are pleased to report that our attendance numbers have improved to the level where we can return back to school on our regular bell schedule. The return to the regular schedule affects middle and high school only; there is no change in the elementary schedule. Siuslaw School District has three Budget Committee positions open for the school board budget process. Positions 1, 5 and 7 are open for appointment by the school board. Apply by February 8, 2022 by 4:00PM. The Budget Committee includes the Board of Directors and seven volunteer citizens who are appointed to serve 3-year terms. Committee members must be registered voters living within the boundaries of the Siuslaw School District, and cannot be employees, officers, or agents of the district. The school board will consider applications at the February 9, 2022, school board meeting.
