I just wanted to spend a moment to thank all the families that have been working hard to support their students in their continued learning either online or through paper packets at home. You all are rock stars!

Dear Siuslaw High School Families, We are a week into our distance learning and though there have been some hiccups, it is nice to see teachers and students reconnecting. Please encourage your students to check in to each class every day. Even if students are not officially meeting, there is generally new information on teachers’ pages on a daily basis. Progress reports for semester 2 will be attached to ParentVUE and StudentVUE later today. We will not be sending them out in the mail. Final grades for semester 2, will be graded with a Pass “P” or Incomplete “I”. Please encourage your student to continue to work towards completion of all of their classes. It is extremely important that we continue to progress towards completing graduation requirements. Many people have asked about graduation and at this point we do not have an answer. Our greatest hope is that social distancing measures will be lessened by June and we will be able to honor the class of 2020 with an official graduation ceremony. In the event that is not possible, we are working on some contingency plans and will make a decision in early May. Thank you for your patience and we want to continue to reassure you that we will make sure we do something special for this class to acknowledge their achievement. Finally, we just want to ask you to take care of yourself and your kids during these unprecedented times. If you need help, please reach out. Our counselors and the administrators are here to help in any way we can. We miss your students and want to continue to partner with you during this school closure. Please reach out if we can be of assistance. Sincerely, Kerri Tatum

Good Evening Siuslaw Students and Families, Today was our first day of our "Soft Start" in Google Classroom. I met with teachers this afternoon and they expressed how good it was to see many of you. We have had a couple things come up that we want to share with you to hopefully make this transition a bit smoother. 1. To go to your Google Classroom you need to be logged into your school google account (i.e first.last@siuslaw.k12.or.us). This is the account teachers will be posting assignments to and how you will you go to Google Meet to attend classes. Links for classes will be in your class feeds. 2. We are still hoping to collect your personal email accounts so we can update you on school wide or class wide information. This is a different account then the one above. Your school accounts do not allow you to access email. If you have not updated your email address, please do so here: https://forms.gle/iVuhFYRWhcQ6rRdy6. If you do not have an email account, please go to https://accounts.google.com/sigNup and sign up for one. 3. We will be doing report cards on April 17th. This will allow you an additional week to turn any late work in and/or do the supplemental work in order to raise your grade(s). Google Classroom school schedule will be as follows: Period 1 8:00am - 8:25 am Period 2 8:30am - 8:55 am Period 3 9:00am - 9:25 am Period 4 9:30am - 9:55 am Period 5 10:00am - 10:25 am Period 6 10:30am - 10:55 am Period 7 11:00am - 11:25 Again, this week is a soft start in order to trouble shoot and practice prior to our official "Go Live" date of April 13th. If you have any questions, run into issues or need help, please feel free to email your teachers or me at ktatum@siuslaw.k12.or.us.

Google Classroom
Hello Siuslaw Students, We will officially start our Distance Learning on April 13th, but many of our teachers plan a soft start tomorrow to touch base with kids and trouble shoot this new world of digital learning. You should have received emails from many of those teachers. We sent packets home to the students that indicated they needed them, for the rest of the students and in order to accommodate meal deliveries the Google Classroom school schedule will be as follows: Period 1 8:00am - 8:25 am Period 2 8:30am - 8:55 am Period 3 9:00am - 9:25 am Period 4 9:30am - 9:55 am Period 5 10:00am - 10:25 am Period 6 10:30am - 10:55 am Period 7 11:00am - 11:25 Again, this week is a soft start in order to trouble shoot and practice prior to our official "Go Live" date of April 13th. We can't wait to get back to work with you, please email your teachers if you have any questions. If you have not updated your email address, please do so here: https://forms.gle/iVuhFYRWhcQ6rRdy6. If you do not have an email account, please go to https://accounts.google.com/sigNup and sign up for one.
