Staff Spotlight
If you have ever been down the English and Social Studies wing you have likely heard Mr. Shinn greeting students and talking to his colleagues. Mr. Shinn teaches US History at Siuslaw High School as well as being in charge of yearbook and our baseball program.
Like so many of us, he wears multiple hats. Mr. Shinn is also the voice of Viking basketball and is an assistant coach for the football team. Thank you to Mr. Shinn for all you do.

Staff Spotlight
Alicia Hernandez is Siuslaw High School's Staff Spotlight this week. Sra. Hernandez teachers her students Spanish. Sra. Hernandez is friendly and patient with her classes as they navigate the ins and outs of a new language.
We are extremely fortunate that Sra. Hernandez is AP Spanish trained because next year she hopes to offer advanced language classes to her qualified students.

The last day to order a Siuslaw High School 2019-20 yearbook is this Friday, February 28th. Cost is $75. This is the last chance to guarantee getting a yearbook for this school year.

Mary Wrightson is this week's SHS staff spotlight. If your student has missed a day of school, you likely have worked with Ms. Wrightson. Ms. Wrightson is the friendly face and voice behind the attendance calls to our office.
Ms. Wrightson works hard to ensure our students are where they are supposed to be and has been a huge asset in the high school's attendance efforts this school year.

Staff Spotlight
This week we are spotlighting Debi Free. Ms. Free is our finance secretary and has done a phenomenal job keeping all of our purchases straight and accounts in order. Ms. Free is extremely helpful and always checks up on orders and assures they get here on time.
If you have been to a sporting event in the last two years you have likely met Ms. Free as she does gate at most home contests.

The Red Heart Hop Dance is Saturday, February 15th from 8-11pm at SHS Commons. Cost is $5 with ASB and students need to be in full attendance on Friday to attend.

Staff Spotlight
Trisha Holden is a Special Education Aide at Siuslaw High School and is this week's staff spotlight. Mrs. Holden is one of the most caring and kind individuals. As an aide in many of our classrooms, she is a quiet presence supporting and advocating for her students.
Mrs. Holden is always patient even when challenged to repeat her expectations multiple times. She anticipates student and staff needs and supports our school in so many quiet and unseen ways. Thank you so much for your dedication to our school.

On Thursday, February 6th from 7-10pm there will be a lock- in with food & drinks for sale while playing board games, video games, watching "Gemini Man", or just hanging out at the High School. Hope to see you there!

Staff Spotlight
This week Siuslaw High School would like to spotlight Melanie Goeddel. Ms. Goeddel is always willing to take on new challenges so that students have additional opportunities. Ms. Goeddel has taken on Forensics and AVID in addition to Future Success and 9th grade English.
Ms. Goeddel is a strong advocate for her students. She is an essential part of our English department and her leadership and determination is largely responsible for many of the positive changes we have seen with our 9th grade classes.
