Come celebrate our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honorary inductees Friday, August 11 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Florence Events Center. We are honoring Joseph Dotson (2015), Don Hunt (1971), Brandon Lockman (1999), Shelbey McClellan (2009), Allen McMullen (1973), Alexis Reavis (2010), Josh Thomas-Dotson (2003), and Brad Wilson (1976).
A no-host social hour begins at 5 p.m. a taco bar dinner at 6, followed by the induction ceremony. Tickets are $20 and available online at bit.ly/siuslawtickets.
At the event, the inductees record at SHS will be shared in detail. Below is a brief summary of their athletic participation at SHS, with some college and professional experience listed after their SHS participation (if applicable).
Joseph Dotson (2015): At SHS: football (in state playoffs for 2 years), basketball (4 year varsity; 2 year starter), baseball (2 years, earning first-team, all-league honors), track (state title in 300-meter hurdles; third in the 400) . At Sothern Oregon University: Joseph focused on track where he became a six-time NAIA All-American--four times in the decathlon and twice in the indoor heptathlon.
Don Hunt (1971): At SHS: football (2 year starting quarterback and his senior year, helped Siuslaw with their co-league championship--he was named first-team all-conference, and fourth-team all-state) and basketball (2 year starter). Don also wrote "The History of Siuslaw High School Football, A Tradition of Excellence. This book chronicles every season dating to the program's beginning in 1929.
Brandon Lockman (1999): At SHS: football (standout as a sure-handed punt returner), basketball (standout), track (state pole-vault champion; also placed at district in the 100, long jump, and 4x100 relay). Brandon also competed at Lane Community College and Portland State.
Shelbey McClellan (2009): At SHS: volleyball(first-team all-state accolades while leading Siuslaw to the Far West League Championships), track (district shot put title--claiming the crown; 4th place at state).
Allen McMullen (1973): At SHS: football (helped Vikings to the Coast League championship and a berth in the state semifinals--Siuslaw's career rushing leader with 2,264 yards), basketball (guard who led the Vikings to their first state tournament appearance; selected first-team all-conference, and named the team's MVP), track.
Alexis Reavis (2010): At SHS: track (number 2 girls shot putter in Siuslaw High history and won state in 2010 and finished 2nd in 2009; 2nd in discus at the 2010 state meet and ranks 3rd in school history; ranks 4th in school history in javelin; ranks in top 10 in high jump) basketball (3-year starter--missed sophomore year with a knee injury).
Josh Thomas-Dotson (2003): At SHS: football (first-team all-conference tight end and linebacker for 3 straight seasons), basketball, baseball (played 2 seasons and named honorable mention all-state), track (set the school record in discus and state placer in 2003). Josh is believed to the the only Siuslaw High graduate to play major college football and professional baseball. At University of Oregon, football for four seasons (five including his redshirt year). With San Diego Padres, rookie league in Peoria, Arizona.
Brad Wilson (1976): At SHS: football (set a single-season rushing record, set another school record with a 99 yard...and 2 feet...run for a touchdown; major contributor on the Vikings' state runner-up in 1974; in the state championship game, Brad was the game's leading rusher), basketball, track (won state meet in the 440 and part of the 4x100 and mile relay teams).
