SOLVE would like to promote the following beach cleanup event occurring on Saturday, September 28th to students, faculty members, and families. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community while learning about our local environment.
SOLVE is looking for volunteers to join the annual Beach & Riverside Cleanup from Sept 20-28, including a huge beach cleanup event at Florence's Siltcoos Beach on Saturday, September 28th, celebrating National Public Lands Day.
Celebrate National Public Lands Day with SOLVE and the U.S. Forest Service and help us clean Siltcoos Beach, a critical nesting area for western snowy plovers from mid-March to mid-September.
We will meet at the Siltcoos Beach Day Use Area parking lot at 10 am, on Saturday, September 28th. Following a brief safety discussion, volunteers will learn a bit about Oregon's most adorable, threatened shorebird, and the ways they can help to protect them. We will then provide gloves and trash receptacles, and head out onto the beach for a two-hour cleanup.
This will be a family-friendly event open to volunteers of all ages. Tell your family, friends, and whoever else you think may be interested. Everyone is invited. The more the merrier!
Visit SOLVEoregon.org to learn more about this event and to register. That is https://www.solveoregon.org/.
